Non-traditional Credit
Non-traditional credit could refers to any credit earned outside of a traditional college or university. Each type of non-traditional credit may have its own policy regarding transfer-ability.
Credit for Prior Learning
- Military credit
- Submit a copy of your DD-214 or Joint Service Transcript (JST) to the Office of the Registrar for evaluation.

- Employment based training
- ECU does not currently have a policy regarding credit for work experience; however, students are able to complete Credit by Exam.
- Credit by Exam must be approved by the department.

Alternative Credit Earning
ECU does not guarantee transfer credit from any of the below sources. However, some courses may transfer with the submission of an official transcript from the company plus an official ACE transcript. We highly recommend seeking ECU input before paying for a course with one of these companies.
